Fernandinho, one of the most successful players in Manchester City's history, has announced that he will be leaving the club to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
The Brazilian midfielder has been with City since 2013 and has made over 400 appearances for the club, winning three Premier League titles and two FA Cups during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
However, Fernandinho is now set to move to La Liga giants Real Madrid, where he will reunite with former City teammate and manager Zinedine Zidane.
"Real Madrid have given me a fantastic opportunity to continue my career," said Fernandinho in a statement released by City. "I am very happy to be joining such a great club and I cannot wait to start training with the team."
Fernandinho's departure from Manchester City marks the end of an era for the club, which has been heavily linked with several high-profile transfers this summer. The club's previous signing, Raheem Sterling, has also recently confirmed that he will leave the club after just one season.
Despite the departures of key players, City remain a force to be reckoned with in English football and are expected to make a strong challenge for the title next season. However, it remains to be seen whether they can replicate their success under new management or not.
